Beavers use trees of the Acadian forest to build their dams and lodges. The twigs and soft outerlayers of these trees are also an important food source. Beaver activity along the rivers in the park play an important role in the ecosytem, affecting many speicies depending on wetlands. After being hunted almost to extinction beavers were finally protected and are now widespread. You can see evidence of beaver in areas like Warren Lake and Brook and Freshwater Lake.
